Just a reminder to check the calendar for all the great judo events coming up soon.
On Sunday, October 21, TriValley Judo in Pleasanton will be hosting an open mat for juniors age 6-14. There is no fee.
Also on that Sunday, and every Sunday, there is an open workout with Master CJ Lee at Do Martial Arts in Castro Valley. Come get a great workout with a former South Korean judo champion and local black belts from UC Berkeley, Stanford, and everywhere in between.
The next weekend there are two events. On Saturday the 27th, the Fukuda Kata Championships will be held at the City College of San Francisco. The day after, it’s the Hanabi Halloween Classic in Albany.
Next month it’s more great judo events with the Palo Alto tournament and the CCSF tournament being held on consecutive weekends.
Of interest to referees, the day before the Palo Alto tournament there will be a clinic and testing for both regional and national level referees.
The day before the CCSF tournament, Cenco will be holding our fall promotional exam!

This Sunday, October 7th, the 83rd Annual Capital Open will be held in Sacramento, California. This tournament is hosted by Sacramento Judo, one of the oldest judo clubs in the country.
In addition to regular shiai divisions for kids and adults, it also features kata competition and Master’s divisions for competitors age 30 and up!

The members of Bojuka Judo
would like to cordially invite your club’s Competitors and/or Referees to our Thirtieth Annual Bojuka Judo Tournament to be held on August 26th
at the Seaside High School Gymnasium in Seaside, CA. Our event has been growing every year with teams from Central and Southern California Attending. This has allowed for the participants to compete against others that they don’t normally meet up against. We also had a couple of very nice Blackbelt pools.

The California State Championships have been set for August 18th and 19th at Cerritos College. It will be a two day event with Bantam, Intermediate, Juvenile A, IJF and Jr. Novice contested on Saturday, and Kata, Cadet, Senior, Masters, and Sr. Novice contested on Sunday. It will be hosted by Taishi Judo Club.

The Alameda tournament will be held May 20th! This is a fun tournament where the referees are encouraged to wear Hawaiian shirts to celebrate the aloha spirit of the late Professor Wally Jay.

Volunteers Needed Saturday, Feb 24
Cal Judo is hosting the 6th Annual Western Conference Collegiate Championships this Saturday, February 24th
In order to make the tournament a success, we are asking for table helpers, pool runners, and other volunteer support. The competition is scheduled to start at noon, so helping could be a half-day commitment, and volunteers could start after the Saturday judo class.
For those that are unavailable in the morning, we will be moving mats at 6:00am ahead of the Yongmudo tournament held at the same venue, and will need some support with weigh-ins from 9-11.

For athletes interested in competing, the eligibility requirements are:
- Be a member in good standing with USA Judo (United States Judo Inc.) or other recognized organization (USJA, USJF, ATJA). A copy of your current membership card will be required at registration
- Is at least 17 years of age as of the date of the tournament and under the age of 25 as of the date of the tournament. Proof of age consisting of birth certificate, passport, or current USA Judo membership card having the age verification symbol “V” printed following the date of birth.
- Is currently enrolled as a full-time Student in an undergraduate program as defined by their institution.
Central Coast will be having a team tournament on January 21st at SJSU! All the details are online at www.cencocup.com. Please note registration is ONLINE ONLY with a deadline one week before the event, no walk ups.
Cost is only $50 per team and everyone gets a free t-shirt!
