Hi Judo Community!
Since team registration is quickly approaching, the CENCO Cup committee wanted to answer some FAQ’s to clarify anything that may be unclear.
(Q) Is the CENCO Cup only for CENCO clubs?
(A) No – all clubs are welcomed to register a team in the CENCO Cup as long as all participants hold a valid USJF, USJI or USJA membership
(Q) Can my dojo register a team in each of the divisions?
(A) Yes, each dojo is allowed to register 1 team in each division
(Q) If my dojo does not have enough players to field a team in a division, what can we do?
(A) You are welcomed to invite other judokas from other dojos to join your team. However, only 1 dojo will be represented.
(Q) Can my player fight in a higher division i.e. 15 yo in seniors?
(A) Yes – intermediate players are welcomed to fight in the senior division at the discretion of their head instructor and parents.
(Q) If my dojo completes the step 1 team registration, are we guanteed a slot in the CENCO Cup?
(A) No. Team slots will be accepted on a first come first serve basis with only the seeded teams guaranteed entry.
(Q) When will we know if our team registration is accepted?
(A) Once step 1 registration is completed, the CENCO Cup committee will notify you within 24-48 hours of status and provide step 2 instructions
(Q) Can we modify the team roster after teams have been submitted and accepted?
(A) Yes, if any modifications are needed after registration is complete due to illness or any other unforeseen circumstances, please contact us immediately at email@example.com.
(Q) Is there going to be late registration or walk up registration?
(A) No – all teams must process online step 1 team registration and participants process step 2 player registration on the tournament website www.cencocup.com before midnight on 10/17.
(Q) What will happen if all the team players don’t process step 2 by 3/17?
(A) Major headaches and extra work for us so don’t do that…

Just a reminder to check the calendar for all the great judo events coming up soon.
On Sunday, October 21, TriValley Judo in Pleasanton will be hosting an open mat for juniors age 6-14. There is no fee.
Also on that Sunday, and every Sunday, there is an open workout with Master CJ Lee at Do Martial Arts in Castro Valley. Come get a great workout with a former South Korean judo champion and local black belts from UC Berkeley, Stanford, and everywhere in between.
The next weekend there are two events. On Saturday the 27th, the Fukuda Kata Championships will be held at the City College of San Francisco. The day after, it’s the Hanabi Halloween Classic in Albany.
Next month it’s more great judo events with the Palo Alto tournament and the CCSF tournament being held on consecutive weekends.
Of interest to referees, the day before the Palo Alto tournament there will be a clinic and testing for both regional and national level referees.
The day before the CCSF tournament, Cenco will be holding our fall promotional exam!
As always check the calendar for all the details on these great events. Thanks to everyone in the Bay Area and Northern California judo community for your effort in organizing these great events.
The fall edition of the CCSF tournament is coming up soon on November 18th, 2018.
We hope to see you all there!
